8-23-21 THOUGHTS

We read the book of Titus in our last evening gathering.  The following verses jumped out as worthy of our thinking.  They are SUMMARY thoughts, big picture thinking.  We are told the sense of our lives in a few words!  If we can truly absorb what is said, we should be able to live successfully.  THIS MATTERS!
   
Titus 2:11-14    For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, 12  instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, 13  looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, 14  who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.

Gal 2:8-10    For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9  not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.  10  For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

1Pet 2:4-9    And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men, but is choice and precious in the sight of God, 5  you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6  For this is contained in Scripture: "BEHOLD, I LAY IN ZION A CHOICE STONE, A PRECIOUS CORNER stone, AND HE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED." 7  This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for those who disbelieve, "THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, THIS BECAME THE VERY CORNER stone," 8  and, "A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE"; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this doom they were also appointed. 9  But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God’s OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

WE OUGHT TO FEEL SPECIAL BECAUSE OF GOD’S GRACE IN JESUS!

My Prayer:
O God, how special you have made us in Christ Jesus.  It is your doing and not our own.  We are chosen and royal and holy, your precious possession.  Help us to think and behave appropriately.  Help us to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to you.  Instruct us  to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age.  We long for the coming of you Son.   In the name of Jesus               Amen
